Abstract

Cervical cancer is one of the pathologies with greater incidence in women, its treatment includes the use of the chemotherapeutic drug cisplatin, where resistance to this conventional therapy limits the success of the treatment. One of the approaches to address this problem is through the evaluation of proteins that demonstrate the development of resistance. Kv10.1 and p53 are proteins that have been proposed as biomarkers of malignancy and resistance in several types of cancer; however, their expression changes in cervical cancer cell lines with human papilloma virus (HeLa HPV-18 and SiHa HPV-16) are unknown. This study aims to evaluate the variation in the expression of p53 and Kv10.1 in cervical cancer cell lines during the process of developing cisplatin resistance; contributing to the knowledge about the response mechanisms of cells against chemo drugs.
