Abstract

The following case study analyses the territorial relationships and the public participation developed around two urban gardens located in the district La Candelaria (neighborhoods Belén and Centro Administrativo. Both gardens emerged from locals’ initiatives of this neighborhoods involving different institutional and community stakeholders through their development. Research is carried out through an approach to the urban gardens and their leaders. An analysis is being made from the territorial construction and appropriation perspective and the public participation, that such spaces have generated by developing their activities. This action from citizen´s initiatives have been supported by the public and private institutions and are an important referent considering of the environmental conditions in the district.
